Imageless Ecgi

Imageless ECGI (electrocardiographic imaging) is a noninvasive computational method for estimating cardiac electrical activity without acquiring dedicated cardiac anatomical images, potentially simplifying clinical electrophysiology. The technique records electrical potentials from electrodes on the torso and applies an inverse mathematical model, together with a standardized or computationally generated heart–torso geometry, to reconstruct epicardial activation patterns from body-surface signals. By mapping conduction abnormalities and arrhythmia-related electrical sources, imageless ECGI may support diagnosis, risk assessment, and planning for catheter ablation. Its reduced reliance on CT or MRI could improve accessibility, shorten workflows, and facilitate repeated evaluation of changing cardiac function.

This study introduces a novel approach for real-time cardiac mapping using a noninvasive, imageless electrocardiographic imaging system. This system enables the acquisition of electrophysiological cardiac maps without requiring pre-procedural computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging scans, enabling efficient guidance for cardiac procedures such as ablation and cardiac resynchronization therapy implants.
