International Physical Activity Questionnaire

The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) is a standardized self-report instrument that measures physical activity and sedentary behavior in adults, supporting clinical and population health research. It asks participants to recall activity during the previous seven days across work, transportation, household, and leisure domains, recording frequency, duration, and intensity. Responses are converted into metabolic equivalent of task minutes per week (MET-min/week) and may be used to classify overall activity levels. In medicine, the IPAQ helps assess lifestyle-related health risks, compare physical activity across populations, evaluate interventions, and examine links between activity patterns and chronic disease outcomes.

Principles of Internal Control Activities

2025

Internal control activities form the operational backbone of a company’s efforts to safeguard assets, improve financial accuracy, and reduce the likelihood of errors or fraud. These activities translate broad control goals into specific, actionable practices that support day-to-day integrity in business processes. The six principles of internal control activities, as highlighted in the COSO framework and widely recognized accounting standards, play a vital role in building robust systems.Key...

Assessment of Physical Activity Intensity with Accelerometers and Oxygen Consumption

2025

Here, we present a protocol to assess physical activity intensity levels measured with indirect calorimetry and two accelerometers (on the right wrist and waist) during an incremental walking-jogging test (from 0.84 to 2.37 m/s) on an oval track. The results show differences among the physical intensity assessed through those methods.

Since the Roman Empire, physicians have described the connection between alterations in function of specific parts of the body and specific disease states and have sought to further scientific understanding to improve bedside diagnosis. However, in this modern age of increasing technology within medical diagnostics, it...

Talwalkar, MD, and Joseph Donroe, MD, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, CT In order to optimize the predictive value of the physical examination, the provider must perform maneuvers correctly. The proper use of drapes is an important component of correctly performing physical examination maneuvers. Skin lesions are missed when "inspection" occurs through clothing, crackles are erroneously reported when the lungs are examined through a...

This protocol describes confocal microscopy detection of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) internalization in mammalian cells. It includes the basic cell culture, transfection, and confocal microscopy procedure and provides an efficient and easily interpretable method to detect the subcellular localization and internalization of fusion-expressed GPCR.
