Mind-body Exercise

Mind-body exercise is a group of physical practices that coordinate movement, breathing, attention, and relaxation to influence both physical function and mental well-being. Activities such as yoga, tai chi, and mindful movement use deliberate postures or controlled sequences with focused breathing and awareness, engaging neuromuscular, cardiovascular, and stress-regulation processes. In medicine, these practices can complement conventional care by supporting mobility, balance, pain management, stress reduction, and overall quality of life. Their generally adaptable intensity and emphasis on self-regulation make them relevant to preventive health, rehabilitation, and the management of chronic conditions, while ongoing research examines their physiological mechanisms and clinical effectiveness.
