Radial Acquisition

Radial acquisition is an imaging data-sampling strategy, used especially in MRI, in which measurements traverse k-space along spokes that extend outward from its center rather than along parallel Cartesian lines. Each readout repeatedly samples the central region, while successive spokes rotate by a prescribed angle; this distributes motion-related inconsistencies across the image and can permit reconstruction from incomplete data. In medicine, radial acquisition supports motion-tolerant imaging of the chest, abdomen, heart, and other anatomically challenging regions, including during free breathing. Its flexible temporal sampling can improve clinical workflow, although streaking artifacts and reconstruction demands remain important considerations.

Radial System Protection

2024

Radial systems employ time-delay overcurrent relays to reduce load interruptions. When a fault occurs, the nearest breaker opens first, while upstream breakers remain closed due to longer delay settings. This approach ensures minimal disruption to the rest of the system. In a radial system with a fault downstream of the third breaker, ideally, only the third breaker will open, isolating the fault and interrupting the load connected beyond it. The second breaker has a longer delay setting,...

Evaluating Motor Impairment in C. elegans Models Using the Radial Locomotion Assay

This video demonstrates the use of a radial locomotion assay to evaluate motor dysfunction in C. elegans expressing either wild-type or ALS-mutant human TDP-43 protein. Worms with varying levels of wild-type or mutant TDP-43 expression are allowed to crawl, and their movement is measured by the radial distance traveled from the central point on the assay plate. The assay distinguishes between mild, moderate, and severe motor impairments based on the distance traveled by the different C. elegans...

The eight-arm radial water maze is designed to evaluate reference and working memory performance simultaneously by requiring subjects to use extra-maze cues to locate escape platforms and remedies the limitations observed in land based radial arm maze designs.

Assessment of radial pulse

Assessment of Radial Pulse The radial pulse, located at the wrist, is often the preferred site for assessing peripheral pulse because of its accessibility and dependability. The process of determining the radial pulse involves several steps: Hand Hygiene: • Begin by performing hand hygiene to prevent the transmission of microorganisms. Preparation: • Identification: Verify the patient's identity to ensure accurate and safe care. • Determination: Assess the need for pulse...
