Sterile Gauze Pad

A sterile gauze pad is a medical dressing made from absorbent woven or nonwoven material that is sterilized and packaged to protect wounds from contamination during care. When placed over an injury, its porous fibers absorb blood and wound exudate while providing a physical barrier against external debris; gentle pressure can also help control minor bleeding. Clinicians use sterile gauze pads to cover incisions, clean or dress wounds, apply topical treatments, and cushion injured tissue. Proper selection and handling support infection-control practices, though gauze should be changed according to wound condition and clinical guidance.

Burch in their book The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique. The 3 R's are replacement, reduction, and refinement of the use of animals in research. The use of cell lines and tissue cultures that originated from research animals is a replacement technique, as it allows for many experiments to be conducted in vitro. Harvesting...

2016

We describe an ovarian fad pad transplantation assay suitable for studies of normal and transformed epithelia of the female reproductive tract. The mouse fat pad allows transplantation of large tissue fragments, is easily accessible for surgery and imaging, and provides the most favorable native environment for tissues of Müllerian origin.

Ovarian Fat Pad Transplantation Assay: An In Vivo Technique to Introduce Cells into Ovarian Fat Pad in Mouse Models

In this video, we demonstrate an assay for transplantation of experimental cells and tissue fragments into the mouse ovarian fat pad. This method can be used to monitor cell regeneration and tumor transformation via non-invasive techniques.

Decellularizing Mammary Fat Pads: Deriving Extracellular Matrix Hydrogels from Mammary Fat Pads
