Tuina Manipulation

Tuina manipulation is a traditional Chinese manual therapy that uses structured hand techniques to assess and address musculoskeletal pain, movement limitations, and related functional problems. Practitioners apply pressure, kneading, rolling, stretching, and joint mobilization to soft tissues and acupuncture points, with the aim of influencing local circulation, muscle tension, connective tissue, and range of motion. In medicine, tuina is used within integrative care for conditions such as neck and back pain, sports injuries, and some chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Clinical study of the technique helps clarify its therapeutic effects, appropriate indications, safety considerations, and role alongside exercise, rehabilitation, and other treatments.

2014

Pneumonia is one of the top ten leading causes of death in the U.S. Osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT) may be utilized as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of pneumonia to enhance biomechanical and immune function; and ultimately, to reduce hospital stay, duration of antibiotics, incidence of respiratory failure, and mortality. In this video-article, we will review randomized controlled studies on the use of OMT in pneumonia patients, as well as demonstrate specific hands-on...

The finger tactile measurement system quantifies tactile pressure on the finger using a highly sensitive electrosurgical pressure sensor, with software displaying and accurately recording the pressure data and video in real time. Two analysis modules unify the data processing for thumb tracking and conditioning during Tuina.
