Exercise Behavior

Exercise behavior is the set of decisions, habits, and actions that determine whether, when, and how intensely a person engages in physical activity, making it a key topic for understanding brain–body regulation. In neuroscience, researchers examine how motivation and reward circuits, executive-control networks, motor pathways, and sensory feedback interact to initiate activity, sustain effort, and shape learning from exercise outcomes. Exercise behavior research can clarify why activity patterns differ across individuals and how stress, mood, environment, and health influence participation. These insights support interventions for physical inactivity and inform studies of cognition, mental health, neurological disease, and rehabilitation.

Cited by 5 •

2013

Pulmonary rehabilitation is widely recognized in the management of respiratory diseases. A key component to successful pulmonary rehabilitation is adherence to the recommended exercise training. The purpose of the present protocol is to describe how continuous data tracking technology can be used to precisely measure adherence to a prescribed aerobic training intensity.
