Treatment Session Setup

Treatment Session Setup is the structured preparation of the participant, environment, equipment, and protocol before a therapeutic or experimental neuroscience session begins. It typically involves confirming eligibility and consent, positioning the participant, checking stimulation or recording systems, and establishing baseline measurements under controlled conditions. Standardized setup reduces avoidable variation, supports participant safety, and helps ensure that treatment parameters and neural responses can be compared across sessions. In neuroscience research and clinical practice, careful preparation is essential for reliable data collection, consistent intervention delivery, and accurate assessment of outcomes such as changes in behavior, physiology, or brain activity.

A fast and inexpensive method for the behavioral determination of hearing parameters like hearing thresholds, hearing impairments or phantom perceptions (subjective tinnitus) is described. It uses pre-pulse inhibition of the acoustic startle response and can be easily implemented in a personal computer using a programmable AD/DA-converter and a piezo sensor.

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease. The Goeckerman regimen, formulated for the treatment of psoriasis, consists of exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) light and application of crude coal tar (CCT). The following protocol is for the administration of Goeckerman therapy for the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis.
