Likert Scale Ratings

Likert scale ratings are a survey method for measuring attitudes, beliefs, perceptions, or behaviors by asking respondents to select ordered response categories, such as strongly disagree to strongly agree. Each item assigns a numerical value to the chosen category, allowing researchers to represent the direction and intensity of a participant’s response; several related items may be combined into a composite score. In psychology, Likert scales support research on constructs such as satisfaction, anxiety, motivation, and social attitudes. Researchers analyze response distributions and scale scores to compare groups, examine relationships, and evaluate measurement reliability, while accounting for the ordinal nature of individual responses.

Qualitative and Quantitative Validation of Tools with Rating Scales Aimed at Assessing the Quality of University Service-Learning

2025

This paper outlines the protocol for qualitatively and quantitatively validating a university service-learning instrument, following the parsimony criterion to create the most robust and optimal version possible. The Delphi qualitative validation method and Robust Unweighted Least Squares Exploratory Factor Analysis, as a quantitative item optimization method, are utilized for this purpose.

The Structure of Skilled Forelimb Reaching in the Rat: A Movement Rating Scale

Hydronium and hydroxide ions are present both in pure water and in all aqueous solutions, and their concentrations are inversely proportional as determined by the ion product of water (Kw). The concentrations of these ions in a solution are often critical determinants of the solution’s properties and the chemical behaviors of its other solutes. Two different solutions can differ in their hydronium or hydroxide ion concentrations by a million, billion, or even trillion times. A common means of...

Reaction Rate

The rate of reaction is the change in the amount of a reactant or product per unit time. Reaction rates are therefore determined by measuring the time dependence of some property that can be related to reactant or product amounts. Rates of reactions that consume or produce gaseous substances, for example, are conveniently determined by measuring changes in volume or pressure. The mathematical representation of the change in the concentration of reactants and products, over time, is the rate...

Metabolic disorders are among one of the most common diseases in humans. The genetically tractable model organism D. melanogaster can be used to identify novel genes that regulate metabolism. This paper describes a relatively simple method which allows studying the metabolic rate in flies by measuring their CO2 production.
