Negative and Positive Feedback

 <li>Denge, çünkü vücut fonksiyonları belirli aralıklarda tutulur. Görünüşte hareketsiz olan bir hayvan bile bu homeostatik dengeyi korumaktadır.</li> 
 </ul> 

 Homeostatik Süreç 

 Homeostazın amacı, ayar noktası adı verilen bir nokta veya değer etrafında dengenin korunmasıdır. Ayar noktasından itibaren normal dalgalanmalar olsa da vücudun sistemleri genellikle bu noktaya geri dönmeye çalışacaktır. İç veya dış ortamdaki bir değişikliğe uyarıcı denir ve bir alıcı tarafından tespit edilir; sistemin tepkisi sapma parametresini ayar noktasına doğru ayarlamaktır. 

 Homeostazın Kontrolü 

 Bir hayvanın ortamı dışında bir değişiklik meydana geldiğinde, bir ayarlama yapılması gerekir. Reseptör ortamdaki değişikliği algılar ve ardından kontrol merkezine (çoğu durumda beyne) bir sinyal gönderir ve bu da daha sonra efektöre gönderilen bir yanıt üretir. Efektör bir kastır (kasılan veya gevşeyen) veya salgı yapan bir bezdir. Bu sinyaller ve yanıtlar bilinçsiz otonom geri bildirim döngüleri tarafından kontrol edilir. Negatif geri besleme döngüleri homeostazı korur. Pozitif geri besleme döngüleri organizmayı homeostazisin daha da dışına iter ancak yaşam fonksiyonları için gerekli olabilir. Böylece homeostaz, memelilerin sinir ve endokrin sistemleri tarafından kontrol edilir. 

 Ayar noktası 

 Bir sistemin ayar noktasını ayarlamak mümkündür. Bu olduğunda geri bildirim döngüsü yeni ayarı korumak için çalışır. Bunun bir örneği kan basıncıdır: Zamanla, kan basıncındaki sürekli artışların bir sonucu olarak kan basıncının normal veya ayar noktası artabilir. Vücut artık yükselmeyi anormal olarak algılamaz ve daha düşük ayar noktasına geri dönmek için hiçbir girişimde bulunmaz. Sonuç, vücuda zarar verebilecek düzenli bir yüksek tansiyon olur. İlaçlar kan basıncını düşürebilir ve sistemdeki ayar noktasını daha sağlıklı bir seviyeye düşürebilir. Bu, bir geri besleme döngüsündeki ayar noktasının değiştirilmesi süreci olarak bilinir. 

 Bir grup vücut organ sisteminde, başka bir sistemdeki ayar noktasını korumak için değişiklikler yapılabilir. Buna iklimlendirme denir. Bu, örneğin bir hayvanın başlangıçta alışık olduğu rakımdan daha yüksek bir rakıma göç etmesi durumunda meydana gelir. Yüksek irtifada düşük oksijen seviyelerine uyum sağlamak amacıyla vücut, dokulara yeterli oksijen iletimini sağlamak için kanda dolaşan kırmızı kan hücrelerinin sayısını artırır. İklime alışmanın bir başka örneği olarak, bazı hayvanların kürklerinde mevsimsel değişiklikler olur: Kışın daha kalın bir kürk yeterli ısı tutmayı sağlar, yazın daha hafif bir kürk ise vücut sıcaklığının zararlı seviyelere çıkmasını önlemeye yardımcı olur.

Negative feedback reduces a change and brings a system back toward its normal state. Positive feedback increases a change and pushes a process further in the same direction. Together, they show how the body can fine-tune responses when conditions shift.

These control systems are important in many parts of biology. They help explain how the body responds to change and how certain processes stay balanced or move toward a clear outcome.
