These diagnostic imaging techniques use X-rays to assess urinary tract anatomy. However, smaller or non-radio-opaque stones, such as uric acid or cystine stones, may not be visible on KUB X-rays, requiring further imaging like imaging studies iii computed tomography for detailed evaluation.

Metal objects obstruct X-ray images and prevent clear visualization of urinary tract structures. Clothing, jewelry, and accessories containing metal create artifacts that compromise diagnostic accuracy.
