Why Publish in JoVE?

The Global Standard in Scientific Video Publishing

JoVE is a peer-reviewed scientific journal indexed in PubMed, Medline, Web of Science, and other databases. JoVE publishes over 1,000 articles per year from top research institutions worldwide. Once your manuscript is accepted for publication, JoVE may offer to create a professional video of your experiments, which will be filmed and produced by our staff. This video is optional and not part of your manuscript.

Gain Visibility in Your Research Field and Beyond

Demonstrate your expertise to scientists in your field and beyond. More than 7,000,000 researchers and students use JoVE, and each article is viewed nearly 2,000 times per year on average.

Increase Reproducibility of Your Work and Retain Knowledge in Your Lab

Documentation via video helps you easily retain and transfer the knowledge developed in your lab. This prevents the loss of critical information when lab members leave.

Efficient Training of Your New Lab Members and Collaborators

Documenting your research in a JoVE video enables you to effectively train your team and collaborators. Video ensures the transfer of how-to knowledge, increasing reproducibility and reducing time and resources lost to failed experiments.

JoVE Will Film and Produce Your Video

If JoVE offers to create a video of your experiments or procedures, our professional staff will handle all aspects of production, including scripting, filming, and editing.

Novel results are allowed but not required.
Research Article
Aimed at communicating novel research. Centered on a narrative about interesting new results. Methods are described in detail to explain how the results were obtained and enable accurate replication. Novel results required.
Case Report
Aimed at reporting the condition and course of treatment for a single patient. Only relevant in clinical settings. Documents rare or instructive patient histories, and/or reports new and cutting-edge treatment modalities.
Review Article
Aimed at summarizing the state of a field of research or clinical practice. Synthesizes the primary research literature to create a cohesive understanding of recent developments and future directions. Calls attention to important primary articles in the field.
