Stressors refer to events that cause stress and can be grouped into three main categories: catastrophes, significant life changes, and daily hassles, including social stress.
Firstly, catastrophes are large-scale, unpredictable events such as hurricanes, wildfires, or wars that cause significant emotional and physical stress.
Those affected by catastrophes often face additional stress when forced to relocate, especially if it involves adapting to new cultural norms, languages, and environments.
Similarly, significant life changes—whether the loss of a loved one, losing a job, or even positive events like getting married or graduating—require individuals to adapt, which can often be a source of stress.
Lastly, daily hassles, such as minor frustrations, delays, irritations, and disagreements, account for most of the stress people experience daily.
These seemingly small annoyances can significantly impact immediate health, contributing to conditions like headaches, colds, and backaches.
Additionally, social stress, stemming from interactions and constant social media notifications, exacerbates these daily frustrations and affects overall well-being.
