Microcapsule Preparation

Microcapsule preparation is the chemical and engineering process of enclosing a liquid, solid, or gas core within a protective polymeric or inorganic shell, creating particles that isolate and control the release of their contents. Depending on the formulation, microcapsules form through methods such as emulsion-based solidification, coacervation, spray drying, or interfacial polymerization, in which shell materials assemble around dispersed core droplets or particles under controlled conditions. In chemistry, these systems help protect sensitive compounds, improve handling, and regulate delivery through diffusion, dissolution, or shell degradation. Applications include pharmaceuticals, agricultural formulations, food ingredients, catalysis, and functional materials.
