Lung Homogenate Preparation

Lung homogenate preparation is a laboratory method for disrupting lung tissue to produce a uniform suspension containing cells, soluble proteins, nucleic acids, and infectious or inflammatory components. The tissue is mechanically broken down, usually in a chilled buffer, and the resulting mixture may be filtered or centrifuged to remove large debris and separate fractions for analysis. In immunology and infection research, these homogenates provide a representative tissue sample for measuring pathogen burden, cytokines, immune-cell markers, and gene expression. Standardized handling helps preserve analytes and enables comparisons between experimental groups, supporting studies of pulmonary immunity, infection severity, and treatment responses.

Test for Homogeneity

2023

The goodness–of–fit test can be used to decide whether a population fits a given distribution, but it will not suffice to decide whether two populations follow the same unknown distribution. A different test, called the test for homogeneity, can be used to conclude whether two populations have the same distribution. To calculate the test statistic for a test for homogeneity, follow the same procedure as with the test of independence. The hypotheses for the test for homogeneity can be stated as...
