Rose Curve Polar

A rose curve in polar coordinates is a family of curves that forms petal-like patterns when the radius varies sinusoidally with the angle, typically according to r = a cos(nθ) or r = a sin(nθ). As θ changes, the sine or cosine factor periodically makes r positive, zero, or negative, while the parameters a and n control the curve’s size, orientation, symmetry, and number of petals; odd n generally produces n petals, whereas even n produces 2n. Rose curves provide a visual way to study polar equations, periodic functions, and geometric symmetry, making them useful in coordinate geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and mathematical modeling.

The spirograph is a versatile tool for visualizing the relationship between geometry and mathematical representation. In particular, it demonstrates how polar coordinates offer an alternative framework for describing curves in comparison to Cartesian coordinates. Instead of specifying a point by its horizontal and vertical displacements (x, y), polar coordinates use a radius r, the distance from the origin, and an angle θ, measured counterclockwise from the polar axis. This system is...

Sutures are usually needed to repair tissue during surgical procedures. However, their application can be problematic as they are invasive and may damage tissue. The fabrication and application methods of a novel tissue adhesive are here reported. This adhesive film is laser-activated and does not require the use of sutures.

Group Polarization

Group polarization is the strengthening of an original group attitude following the discussion of views within a group (Teger & Pruitt, 1967). That is, if a group initially favors a viewpoint, after discussion the group consensus is likely a stronger endorsement of the viewpoint. Conversely, if the group was initially opposed to a viewpoint, group discussion would likely lead to stronger opposition. The phenomenon of group polarization explains many actions taken by groups that would not...

Here, we describe a semi-invasive optical microscopy approach for the induction of a Rose Bengal photothrombotic clot in the somatosensory cortex of a mouse in vivo. The technical aspects of the imaging procedure are described from induction of a photothrombotic event to application and data collection.
