Cervical Spine Surgery

Cervical spine surgery comprises procedures that treat disorders of the neck portion of the spinal column, particularly when spinal cord or nerve-root compression causes pain, weakness, numbness, or impaired function. Depending on the underlying condition, surgeons remove pressure from neural tissues through decompression and may restore alignment or stability using fusion, implants, or bone grafts. Common indications include cervical disc herniation, spinal stenosis, fractures, deformity, and degenerative disease that has not responded to conservative care. By relieving compression and stabilizing affected vertebrae, these operations can reduce symptoms, prevent neurological deterioration, and improve mobility and quality of life.
