Cesarian Section

A cesarean section, also called a C-section, is a surgical method of delivering a baby through incisions in the pregnant person’s abdomen and uterus when vaginal birth is not advisable, not progressing safely, or requires urgent intervention. During the procedure, clinicians open the abdominal wall, enter the uterus, deliver the infant and placenta, and close the incisions, typically using regional anesthesia while monitoring both patients. Cesarean delivery can reduce immediate risks in situations such as fetal distress, abnormal presentation, placenta previa, or certain complications of labor. Understanding its indications, technique, and recovery supports safe obstetric decision-making and informs care before, during, and after birth.

This article provides a detailed and visual description of a methodology for collecting and measuring biochemical inflammatory and nociceptive mediators at the surgical wound site following cesarean delivery. This human bioassay has been used to determine correlations between wound and serum cytokine concentrations and drug-mediated changes in wound cytokines, chemokines and neuropetides.

Here, we introduce a novel approach-Laparoscopic Extracorporeal Knot-Tying for Uterine Vessel Occlusion during Hysterectomy with Cervical Cerclage in Large Uteri. A laparoscopic extracorporeal knot-pusher is used to perform cervical cerclage, achieving complete occlusion of uterine arteries. Thereafter, the corpus uteri are excised to enhance visibility and facilitate the operative field.

Laser-Assisted Lentiviral Gene Delivery: A Technique to Permeabilize Mouse Fertilized Eggs to Facilitate Lentiviral Gene Delivery

Diffuse noxious inhibitory control, temporal summation and wound hyperalgesia testing are demonstrated in the obstetric patient. These tests evaluate inhibitory and excitatory mechanisms of pain processing and are here utilized to evaluate endogenous analgesia at different time-points during pregnancy and the peripartum period to help reveal individual s risk for persistent pain.
