Endoscopic Ultrasonography

Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) is a minimally invasive imaging technique that combines endoscopy with ultrasound to visualize the gastrointestinal tract and nearby organs, often providing greater detail than surface imaging alone. An endoscope fitted with an ultrasound transducer is guided through the digestive tract, where high-frequency sound waves penetrate surrounding tissues and returning echoes generate real-time images; integrated needles can obtain tissue or fluid samples. In medicine, EUS supports the evaluation and staging of gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and biliary diseases, guides fine-needle aspiration or biopsy, and assists selected therapeutic procedures. Its close-range imaging can improve diagnostic precision while limiting the need for exploratory surgery.

Ultrasonography is an imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to visualize the body's internal structures. It is a non-invasive and safe procedure that does not involve the use of ionizing radiation, making it widely used in various medical fields. Ultrasonography is used to study heart function, blood flow in the neck or extremities, certain conditions such as gallbladder disease, and fetal growth and development. During an ultrasonography procedure, a handheld device called a...

Changes in ovarian blood flow during the preovulatory period are essential for ovulation. Doppler ultrasonography has been used in humans and large animals to assess ovarian hemodynamics and perfusion. A protocol is presented for applying Doppler ultrasonography to evaluate ovarian hemodynamics during the preovulatory and periovulatory phases in mice.
