Hepatic Hilum Anatomy

Hepatic hilum anatomy describes the gateway where major vessels, bile ducts, lymphatics, and nerves enter or leave the liver, making it central to hepatic function and clinical care. Located at the porta hepatis, the hilum contains the portal triad: the portal vein and proper hepatic artery deliver nutrient-rich and oxygenated blood, while the hepatic ducts carry bile toward the gallbladder and intestine. Their branching relationships organize liver segments and regulate blood inflow and bile drainage. Knowledge of this anatomy supports interpretation of imaging, surgical planning, liver transplantation, and management of hilar tumors, vascular disease, and bile duct obstruction.

We present a laparoscopic technique for anatomic S7+S8d resection with right hepatic vein transection, preserving the inferior right hepatic vein and segment S6. Relying on meticulous anatomical landmarks without intraoperative ultrasound, this approach offers a precise and parenchyma-sparing option for dorsally located right-liver tumors, particularly in settings with limited advanced navigation resources.

An optical system was developed to visualize hepatic microcirculation with FITC-labeled erythrocytes and to measure the partial pressure of oxygen in the microvessels with laser-assisted phosphorimetry. This method can be used to investigate physiological and pathological mechanisms by analyzing microvascular structure, diameter, blood flow velocity, and oxygen tension.

Anatomy of the Eyeball

The eye is a spherical, hollow structure composed of three tissue layers. The outer layer — the fibrous tunic, comprises the sclera — a white structure — and the cornea, which is transparent. The sclera encompasses some of the ocular surface, most of which is not visible. However, the 'white of the eye' is distinctively visible in humans compared to other species. The cornea, a clear covering at the front of the eye, enables light penetration. The eye's middle layer, the vascular tunic,...

The human tooth enables us to eat a variety of foods, speak clearly, and even aid in shaping our faces. Teeth are composed of various elements that work together. Here's a detailed look at the anatomy of a human tooth. The Crown, Neck, and Root The visible part of the tooth is referred to as the crown. It's covered by enamel, the hardest substance in the human body. The crown is uniquely shaped for each type of tooth, allowing for different functions such as cutting, tearing, or grinding food.
