Laparoscopic Suturing

Laparoscopic suturing is a minimally invasive surgical technique that uses long instruments and a camera inserted through small abdominal incisions to place and secure stitches, enabling tissue repair without a large open incision. Under laparoscopic visualization, the surgeon passes a curved needle through aligned tissue edges with needle holders, controls tension and depth, and ties knots either inside the body (intracorporeal) or outside before advancing them (extracorporeal). The technique requires coordinated hand movements, depth perception, and precise instrument manipulation within a confined field, often with pneumoperitoneum maintaining working space. It supports wound closure, bleeding control, organ repair, and reconstruction or anastomosis in minimally invasive procedures.
