Partial Pancreatectomy

Partial pancreatectomy is a surgical procedure that removes a diseased or damaged portion of the pancreas while preserving the remaining tissue, helping treat pancreatic disease when complete removal is unnecessary. Depending on the lesion’s location, surgeons may remove the pancreatic head, body, or tail and reconnect nearby digestive structures so pancreatic secretions can continue reaching the intestine. The procedure is used for selected pancreatic tumors, cysts, trauma, and other localized conditions, with outcomes influenced by residual endocrine and exocrine function. Understanding this operation supports decisions about surgical treatment, postoperative monitoring, digestion, and blood-glucose regulation.

The supply of type 2 diabetic islets for research is insufficient. Here we share our protocol for isolating islets from patients undergoing partial pancreatectomy. This approach represents a unique venue for obtaining islets from type 2 diabetic and clinically matched non-diabetic subjects in adequate numbers for basic and clinical studies.

2026

This protocol describes a robot-assisted partial splenectomy for a benign splenic tumor. The robotic approach optimizes spleen preservation by enhancing surgical precision, minimizing blood loss, and improving postoperative outcomes. Key surgical steps include meticulous splenic hilum dissection, selective vascular ligation, intraoperative ultrasonography, and controlled parenchymal transection.

Partial Fractions

2025

A partial fraction is a component of a rational expression represented as the sum of simpler fractions. When a rational function is expressed as a ratio of two polynomials, it can often be decomposed into a sum of fractions whose denominators are simpler polynomials, typically linear or irreducible quadratic factors. This process is called partial fraction decomposition, and it is used to simplify complex expressions for integration, solving equations, or analysis.Partial fraction decomposition...
