Radical Prostatectomy Outcomes

Radical prostatectomy outcomes are the clinical results observed after surgical removal of the prostate gland, typically assessed through cancer control, survival, urinary function, sexual function, and quality of life. During the procedure, the surgeon removes the prostate and seminal vesicles, with possible preservation of the neurovascular bundles and urinary sphincter to support postoperative function; pathological examination also establishes tumor stage and margin status. Outcomes vary with cancer characteristics, surgical approach, baseline health, and surgeon experience. Evaluating these measures helps clinicians counsel patients, compare treatment strategies, identify complications, and plan follow-up care for localized prostate cancer.
