Needle-guided Stenosis

Needle-guided stenosis is a procedure that uses a precisely positioned needle to create or access a localized narrowing, often in a spinal or other neural structure, for controlled investigation of its effects. Guidance enables accurate placement at the target site, while tissue manipulation or material delivery reduces the available passage and can alter pressure, fluid movement, or mechanical stress on nearby neural tissue. In neuroscience, this approach supports experimental models of spinal canal narrowing and neural compression, helping researchers examine changes in sensory and motor function, characterize disease mechanisms, and evaluate potential interventions under defined anatomical conditions.

Catheter-based Endovascular Angioplasty for Fibrosing Mediastinitis-associated Pulmonary Vein Stenosis

2025

Pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS) is a life-threatening complication of fibrosing mediastinitis (FM), with a poor prognosis if not properly treated. Currently, catheter-based endovascular angioplasty is a promising therapeutic strategy for FM-associated PVS. This protocol primarily outlines a stepwise approach to the transcatheter procedure for FM-associated PVS.

2024

The needle method of asymmetric bilateral common carotid artery stenosis is proposed to create a mouse model for vascular cognitive impairment and dementia. It results in longer-term outcomes compared to previously established models and is compatible with live MRI. Visual representation demonstrating the procedure provides guidance for mastering the surgery.

Substernal thyroid lesions are common, and need to be differentiated from malignancy. Obtaining percutaneous fine needle biopsy is not possible due to its retrosternal location. This article proposes a protocol for biopsy of substernal thyroid lesions using Endobronchial Ultrasound-guided Transbronchial Needle Aspiration (EBUS-TBNA).
