Fixed Mindset

A fixed mindset is the belief that intelligence, talent, and other personal abilities are largely unchangeable, a psychological perspective that shapes how people interpret learning and performance. Because this belief frames ability as a stable trait, individuals may avoid challenging tasks, view effort as evidence of limited competence, and experience setbacks or criticism as threats to their self-image. In psychology, studying fixed mindset helps explain differences in motivation, persistence, goal selection, and responses to failure across educational, workplace, and personal settings. Understanding this pattern can inform interventions that encourage adaptive learning behaviors and more constructive responses to difficulty.

Fixing Double-strand Breaks

2020

The double-stranded structure of DNA has two major advantages. First, it serves as a safe repository of genetic information where one strand serves as the back-up in case the other strand is damaged. Second, the double-helical structure can be wrapped around proteins called histones to form nucleosomes, which can then be tightly wound to form chromosomes. This way, DNA chains up to 2 inches long can be contained within microscopic structures in a cell. A double-stranded break not only damages...

These assets are not intended for resale during regular business operations but are used in production, supply chain, or administrative functions. For example, a cheese manufacturer might purchase packing machinery to use over five years.
