A nursing center is a homelike surrounding that provides continuous and custodial care such as nursing, rehabilitation, and religious services.

Assisted living provides long-term care in a homely environment with round-the-clock supervision, housekeeping, assistance with meals, and personal care.

In contrast, adult daycare centers offer health and social services to patients only during the daytime to allow their families to maintain jobs.

Respite care is a short-term health service that allows the family caregiver to leave home for a few hours or days, such as for errands or travel needs.

Palliative care is a patient and family-centered holistic care approach that focuses on improving the quality of life for both the patients suffering from a life-threatening illness and their relatives.

Hospice care is a family-centered care that allows terminally-ill patients to live with dignity, comfort, and independence while reducing the pain of their illness.
