Q1: What are the three layers of connective tissue that protect nerve fibers?
Nerves have three protective connective tissue layers. The epineurium is the outermost layer that holds blood vessels and fascicles together. The perineurium surrounds each fascicle, a bundle of parallel axons. The endoneurium is the innermost sheath encasing individual axons and their associated Schwann cells.
Q2: How many cranial nerves and spinal nerves does the peripheral nervous system contain?
The peripheral nervous system contains 12 pairs of cranial nerves originating from the brain and 31 pairs of spinal nerves originating from the spinal cord.
