Brick Cutting Techniques

Consider building a brick wall where a full brick cannot fit into the remaining space.

To fit a brick in this space, a mason's hammer with a chisel-pointed end can be used to precisely cut and shape the brick as required through sharp, well-aimed strikes.

A power saw equipped with a water-cooled diamond blade is also used to cut bricks into more complex shapes with higher precision.

Bricks cut to specific sizes are referred to as bats.

For example, a brick that is half its original length is called a half-bat, while one that is three-fourths its length is known as a three-fourth bat.

Queen closers are bricks that match the length and thickness of standard bricks but have half the width.

King closers are bricks shaped such that one end is cut to half the width, creating a slanted corner from the midpoint of two adjacent edges.

Similarly, other forms of cut bricks, like the beveled closer, quarter bat, and mitered closer, are also cut depending on their requirements.
