This study investigates the effects of near-infrared (NIR) light therapy on vestibular sensory epithelium in mice. The research highlights the potential neuroprotective benefits of NIR therapy in enhancing neuronal function.
Near-infrared (NIR) light modulation of vestibular sensory neurons offers a non-invasive approach to probe neuronal resilience mechanisms in preclinical models. By modulating mitochondrial activity and oxidative stress responses, this method supports target validation in neuroprotection pathways. It enables mechanistic de-risking of antioxidant enzyme induction as a functional readout for neuronal function preservation.
This method fits within the discovery continuum from target hypothesis testing to biomarker-enabled lead optimization in neuroscience.
