This study focuses on the quantification of inorganic polyphosphate (polyP), a polymer involved in bacterial virulence and stress response. The method utilizes a multiwell plate assay to measure phosphate levels derived from polyP.
Quantitative measurement of inorganic polyphosphate (polyP) in bacteria enables mechanistic de-risking of bacterial stress response and virulence pathways during early discovery. This colorimetric assay provides standardized, reproducible quantification of polyP, supporting predictive confidence in target validation and functional pathway interrogation. Integration of this assay into discovery workflows enhances portfolio triage and risk-adjusted advancement decisions for anti-infective and microbiome-targeted programs.
This assay positions within the early discovery to lead identification continuum, enabling hypothesis testing and pathway clarification for bacterial targets.
