Simulated digestion of synthetic oral bacterial communities enables quantitative assessment of microbial viability under physiologically relevant stressors. This approach supports predictive evaluation of candidate strains for oral delivery and informs early-stage screening of microbiome-targeted therapeutics. Integrating such viability assays into discovery workflows enhances confidence in strain selection and de-risks downstream development.
