Intravitreous Injection for Establishing Ocular Diseases Model

Hi, I am TU from Guso Lab. Today I'm going to introduce you how to do the intravitreous injection so that we can produce animal model or prevent ocular disease progression. Here is the schematic image.

To show the location of injection needle in the red eye. The needle is punctured into the posterior chamber at a 45 degree to the scar surface. Using this 45 degree angle, we can avoid injury of the lens.

During Intravitreous injection, we do the intraocular Injection and the operation microscope. The red will be anthesis by ketamine and ine cocktail. Local anesthesia and antibiotic ointment will also be used.

We use glass per pet to do the injection. We're using prepared puller to prepare glass per. Then we need to get rid of the very sharp end of the glass perpet.

We can connect it with 1 million syringe. We'll seal the connection point by perfume. Then with this glass pipe, we can withdraw two microliter of injection solution nice and slowly into the, put the red under the microscope.

You can see from the puncture hole there is some vires coming out. Give gentle push to get rid of more witches so that we can gain more space. In the posterior chamber of the red eye, insert the tip of glass per pad into the vire at a 45 degree to the scar surface.

Try not to injury the lens. Inject slowly. Do not inject any air bubble into the Es.After leaving a few seconds, put it out.

Then apply antibiotic ointment on the eye. Major challenge Of intravitreous injection is to minimize manipulation on the eye. We need to avoid intraocular bleeding, lens injury and Retinal detachment.
