Modeling closed-head traumatic brain injury (TBI) in Drosophila enables early-stage interrogation of neurodegenerative mechanisms relevant to human disease. This approach supports predictive confidence in target validation and mechanistic de-risking for neurobiology-focused discovery portfolios. The method provides a scalable, genetically tractable system for evaluating neuronal injury and immune response pathways before advancing to mammalian models.
This method positions within the early discovery continuum, bridging target validation and preclinical model development for neurodegeneration research.
