The study examined the influence of jumping ability on throwing speed and accuracy in 35 male handball players. Professional players demonstrated superior accuracy and speed compared to amateurs. Jumping ability was identified as a robust predictor of competitive level and exhibited a positive correlation with throwing performance.
This study aims to analyze how jumping ability impacts throwing speed and accuracy in handball players. Recent studies highlight the correlation between lower-limb strength and throwing performance in handball. High-performance sport radar and motion analysis score are currently used to measure throwing speed and accuracy.
Controlling standard variables and ensuring consistent participations are major challenges in these experiments. The finding of that study suggests that professional players exhibit super throwing speed and accuracy. To begin, apply a warmup protocol including elevation, activation, mobilization, and potentiation immediately before the start of testing.
Use an application to analyze both bipedal counter-movement jumps and unipedal counter-movement jumps for the right and left legs. Using a high-definition digital video camera, measure the throwing speed across nine jump throws from a distance of nine meters behind the player on the executing arm towards the goal. Define 0.4 meter target zones on the sides and classify only those throws that reach these zones without touching the ground as correct.
Have the participants complete three sets of three jump throws from the nine-meter line with 30 seconds of rest between each throw and three minutes of rest between sets, ensuring full recovery for all participants. When analyzing the similarities in the results between the amateur and professional groups, the professional group showed significantly higher counter-movement jump height compared to the amateur group and significantly higher throwing speed jump performance. The professional group exhibited significantly better throwing accuracy during correct throws compared to the amateur group, while no significant difference was found for incorrect throws.
The professional group also had greater age, height, weight, and experience in handball compared to the amateur group.
