Patricia Pereira Coltri

Patricia Coltri is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at University of São Paulo, in Brazil. She received her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at University of Campinas, in Brazil. Her master’s and PhD degrees in Genetics and Molecular Biology were received from University of Campinas.

During her professional career, Patricia developed keen interest on assembly and structure of macromolecular complexes. During her post-doc training at Melissa Jurica’s lab at University of California, Santa Cruz, she studied the architectural organization of the spliceosome using proteomics and biochemical analysis. Following that, she moved to Carla Columbano de Oliveira lab, at University of São Paulo, Brazil. She then studied the role of regulatory splicing proteins for spliceosome assembly in the yeast system.

In 2012 Patricia was recruited as faculty at University of São Paulo. Research in her lab focuses on the study of pre-mRNA splicing regulation in eukaryotes. Different concentration and activity of regulatory proteins might shape the splicing landscape of the cells, leading to different patterns of gene expression.
