Recovery Strategy

A recovery strategy is a structured plan for restoring or improving behavior after disruption, stress, loss of control, or unsuccessful performance. It works by identifying conditions that influence behavior, selecting achievable responses, applying them consistently, and monitoring outcomes so the plan can be adjusted as circumstances change. In behavioral science, recovery strategies help explain how individuals regain routines, regulate responses, build resilience, and maintain progress over time. They support research and practice in learning, mental health, rehabilitation, and behavior change by linking environmental conditions, individual actions, and measurable outcomes.

2012

Noroviruses are a major cause of gastroenteritis yet molecular techniques for their characterisation are still relatively new. Here we report two different reverse genetics approaches for the efficient recovery of murine norovirus (MNV), the only member of this genus which can be propagated in cell culture.

New Variations for Strategy Set-shifting in the Rat

Set-shifting, a form of behavioral flexibility, requires an attentional shift from one stimulus dimension to another. We extended an established rodent set-shifting task1 by requiring attention to different stimuli according to context. The task was combined with specific lesions to identify neuron subtypes underlying a successful shift.

We demonstrate the extraction of ammonium from an ammonium-rich stream using an electrochemical and a bioelectrochemical system. The reactor setup, operation and data analysis are discussed.

Muscle Recovery and Fatigue

Muscle fatigue refers to the decline in a muscle's ability to maintain the force of contraction after prolonged activity. It primarily stems from changes within muscle fibers. Even before experiencing muscle fatigue, one may feel tired and have the urge to stop the activity. This response, known as central fatigue, occurs due to changes in the central nervous system, namely the brain and spinal cord. While there is no single mechanism that induces fatigue, it may serve as a protective response...
