Young Adult Bilinguals

Young adult bilinguals are individuals who use two languages during the transition from adolescence to adulthood, making them an important population for studying language, cognition, identity, and behavior. Their communication choices can shift with social setting, language proficiency, cultural context, and the expectations of different conversational partners, while managing two linguistic systems may influence attention, self-regulation, and social interaction. Behavioral research on young adult bilinguals examines code-switching, decision-making, language use, and cultural adaptation across academic, professional, and personal environments. These studies help clarify how bilingual experience relates to cognitive flexibility, social behavior, and participation in increasingly multilingual communities.

Adult Stem Cells

2019

Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that divide and produce more stem cells or progenitor cells that differentiate into mature, specialized cell types. All the cells in the body are generated from stem cells in the early embryo, but small populations of stem cells are also present in many adult tissues including the bone marrow, brain, skin, and gut. These adult stem cells typically produce the various cell types found in that tissue—to replace cells that are damaged or to continuously renew...
