Dhna Mediator

DHNA, or 1,4-dihydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, is a small aromatic intermediate in bacterial biochemistry that links central metabolism to menaquinone biosynthesis. In this pathway, enzymatic reactions convert chorismate-derived precursors into DHNA, which is then prenylated and methylated to form menaquinone, an electron carrier used in respiratory chains under specific growth conditions. Studying DHNA helps clarify how bacteria assemble quinone cofactors and regulate energy metabolism. Its role as a measurable metabolic intermediate also supports research on microbial physiology, pathway engineering, antibiotic targets, and biochemical interactions between microorganisms and their environments.

Here we describe an efficient and versatile protocol to induce, monitor and analyze novel glioblastomas (GBM) using transposon DNA injected into the ventricles of neonatal mice. Cells of the subventricular zone, which take up the plasmid, transform, proliferate and generate tumors with histo-pathological characteristics of human GBM.
