Ampulla

An ampulla is an enlarged, often flask-shaped segment of a biological tube or duct that supports specialized transport, storage, secretion, or sensory functions. Its role depends on its location: in the fallopian tube, the ampulla provides a wider passage where sperm and oocyte can meet, while in the semicircular canals, an ampulla contains sensory hair cells that convert fluid movement caused by head rotation into neural signals. Ampullae also occur in structures such as the vas deferens and rectum, where expansion helps accommodate and move contents. Studying ampullae connects anatomy with reproduction, digestion, fluid dynamics, and sensory biology.

Embryo Transfer Into Rabbit: A Procedure for Laparoscopy-Guided Transfer of Embryos Into Oviduct of Ovulating Recipient Female Rabbit Model

2025

This video describes the technique of transferring embryos into the oviduct of a recipient female rabbit via Laparoscopy. It allows embryo remodeling in rabbits during its migration through the oviduct, eventually helping in successful implantation. This technique can also be used for stored embryos with good efficiency.

Pancreatic Islets Isolation through Collagenase Perfusion: An Enzymatic Method to Isolate Pancreatic Islet Cells

2023

Pancreatic islets, also called the Islets of Langerhans, are a cluster of endocrine cells which produces hormones for glucose regulation and other important biological functions. This protocol explains a method for isolating pancreatic islets by first perfusing collagenase via Ampulla of Vater to digest the exocrine pancreatic tissue and a simplified density gradient centrifugation to purify the islets from mice.

The microinjection of mouse oocytes is commonly used for both classic transgenesis (i.e., the random integration of transgenes) and CRISPR-mediated gene targeting. This protocol reviews the latest developments in microinjection, with a particular emphasis on quality control and genotyping strategies.

Balance and Coordination Testing

2023

Balance and coordination are critical components involved in the control of movement. Many sensory receptors and neural processing units are required to help individuals maintain balance while performing various activities. Deficits in balance and coordination occur in patients suffering from movement disorders or due to aging. Therefore, scientists are trying to understand the pathophysiology behind these conditions. One way to do that is by using rodent models and testing them on behavioral...

Tubal Cytology of the Fallopian Tube as a Promising Tool for Ovarian Cancer Early Detection
