Antibody Fragments

Antibody fragments are engineered or naturally derived portions of immunoglobulins that retain selective antigen recognition, offering a smaller alternative to full-length antibodies in biology and medicine. Their variable domains bind specific epitopes through complementary molecular interactions, while removing the Fc region can reduce immune effector activity, improve tissue penetration, and support rapid clearance. Common formats include Fab fragments, single-chain variable fragments, and single-domain antibodies. These molecules support immunoassays, imaging, targeted drug delivery, structural studies, and therapeutic development, where their compact size, modular design, and customizable properties can improve access to biological targets and enable precise molecular intervention.

We provide a method to simultaneously screen a library of antibody fragments for binding affinity and cytoplasmic solubility by using the Escherichia coli twin-arginine translocation pathway, which has an inherent quality control mechanism for intracellular protein folding, to display the antibody fragments on the inner membrane.

Habitat Fragmentation

2020

Habitat fragmentation describes the division of a more extensive, continuous habitat into smaller, discontinuous areas. Human activities such as land conversion, as well as slower geological processes leading to changes in the physical environment, are the two leading causes of habitat fragmentation. The fragmentation process typically follows the same steps: perforation, dissection, fragmentation, shrinkage, and attrition. Perforation and dissection often occur during the initial stages of...

Scalable High Throughput Selection From Phage-displayed Synthetic Antibody Libraries

A method is described with visual accompaniment for conducting scalable, high throughput selections from phage-displayed combinatorial synthetic antibody libraries against hundreds of antigens simultaneously. Using this parallel approach, we have isolated antibody fragments that exhibit high affinity and specificity for diverse antigens that are functional in standard immunoassays.
