Dna Microarray Analysis

DNA microarray analysis is a molecular biology technique that measures the abundance or sequence-specific presence of many nucleic acid targets simultaneously, enabling researchers to compare gene expression or detect genetic variation across samples. It works by hybridizing fluorescently labeled sample DNA or RNA to thousands of immobilized, sequence-specific probes on a microarray; complementary targets bind their probes, and a scanner measures fluorescence signals to indicate relative target abundance. In biology, this analysis supports transcriptome profiling, disease classification, biomarker discovery, genotyping, and comparative studies of cellular responses, while providing a high-throughput view of coordinated molecular changes that can guide hypothesis generation and follow-up experiments.

ampliPHOX colorimetric detection technology is presented as an inexpensive alternative to fluorescence detection for microarrays. Based on photopolymerization, ampliPHOX produces solid polymer spots visible to the naked eye in just a few minutes. Results are then imaged and automatically interpreted with a simple yet powerful software package.

Microarrays are high-throughput and relatively inexpensive assays that can be automated to analyze large quantities of data at a time. They are used in genome-wide studies to compare gene or protein expression under two varied conditions, such as healthy and diseased states. Microarrays consist of glass or silica slides on which probe molecules are covalently attached through surface functionalization. Most commonly, the slides are prepared through the chemisorption of silanes to silica...
