Duodenum Jejunum Organoids

Duodenum jejunum organoids are three-dimensional, laboratory-grown models that reproduce key structural and functional features of the small intestine, providing a controlled system for studying intestinal biology. Researchers generate them from intestinal stem cells, which self-renew and differentiate within a supportive three-dimensional matrix under defined growth-factor conditions to form epithelial tissues containing specialized cell types. These organoids model processes such as nutrient absorption, epithelial renewal, barrier maintenance, and host–microbe interactions in the duodenum and jejunum. They support research into intestinal development, digestive diseases, infection, drug responses, and personalized medicine while reducing reliance on animal models and enabling controlled experimental manipulation.

2026

This protocol presents robotic duodenum-preserving total pancreatic head resection (R-DPPHRt) for intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs). A video demonstrates the technique in a patient with main duct-IPMN, highlighting its feasibility as a minimally invasive, organ-preserving alternative to pancreaticoduodenectomy.

An Immunofluorescence-Based Method for Visualizing Tuft Cells in Jejunum Cryosections
