Embryo Microinjection Protocol

Embryo microinjection is a laboratory technique that delivers genetic material, proteins, or other substances directly into an early embryo, enabling controlled manipulation during development. Using a fine glass micropipette under microscopic guidance, researchers immobilize the embryo and inject the material into a targeted compartment, such as the cytoplasm or pronucleus, while minimizing cellular damage. The procedure supports transgenesis, gene editing, lineage tracing, and studies of embryonic development by producing embryos with defined molecular changes. Careful control of embryo stage, injection volume, pipette position, and handling conditions improves survival and reproducibility, making microinjection valuable in developmental biology, reproductive research, and biotechnology.
