Ems Treatment

EMS treatment, or electrical muscle stimulation, is a therapeutic method that uses externally applied electrical signals to activate muscles and support controlled movement. Adhesive electrodes placed on the skin deliver patterned pulses that depolarize motor nerves, producing muscle contractions whose intensity and timing can be adjusted for a specific goal. In biology and rehabilitation research, EMS is used to study neuromuscular function and to help maintain or restore muscle activity when voluntary movement is limited. Its effects depend on stimulation parameters, electrode placement, tissue properties, and the condition of the targeted muscles, making it relevant to rehabilitation, exercise science, and clinical investigation.

Visualizing protein samples by negative stain electron microscopy (EM) has become a popular structural analysis method. It is useful for quantitative structural analysis, such as calculating a 3D reconstruction of the molecules being studied, and also for qualitative examination of the quality of protein preparations. In this article we present detailed protocols for preparing the EM grids, staining the sample and visualizing the sample in an electron microscope. Novice users can follow these...

Interaction of EM Radiation with Matter: Spectroscopy

2024

Electromagnetic (EM) radiation can be considered an oscillating electric and magnetic field propagating through a medium that can interact with matter in its path. The electric field in the radiation can interact with electrical charges in the atoms or molecules in the matter. On the other hand, the magnetic field can interact with the magnetic field in the atomic nucleus. The study of the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and matter is termed spectroscopy. Spectroscopy is the study...

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease. The Goeckerman regimen, formulated for the treatment of psoriasis, consists of exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) light and application of crude coal tar (CCT). The following protocol is for the administration of Goeckerman therapy for the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis.

Dual Nature of Electromagnetic (EM) Radiation

2024

Electromagnetic (EM) radiation consists of electric and magnetic field components oscillating in planes perpendicular to each other and mutually perpendicular to radiation propagation through space. EM radiation can be classified as a wave, characterized by the properties of waves such as wavelength (denoted as λ) and frequency (represented by ν). Wavelength is the distance between two consecutive peaks (the highest point) or troughs (the lowest point) in the wave. Frequency is the number of...
