Femur Anatomy

Femur anatomy is the study of the structure and organization of the femur, the long bone that forms the framework of the thigh and supports movement and body weight. Proximally, its rounded head articulates with the acetabulum, while the neck, trochanters, shaft, and distal condyles shape hip and knee function; bone geometry and cortical strength transmit loads and provide leverage for attached muscles. Understanding these regions helps students interpret skeletal organization and enables researchers and clinicians to assess gait, fractures, joint disorders, medical images, and orthopedic procedures. Femur anatomy also provides a foundation for analyzing locomotion and lower-limb biomechanics.

Anatomy of the Eyeball

The eye is a spherical, hollow structure composed of three tissue layers. The outer layer — the fibrous tunic, comprises the sclera — a white structure — and the cornea, which is transparent. The sclera encompasses some of the ocular surface, most of which is not visible. However, the 'white of the eye' is distinctively visible in humans compared to other species. The cornea, a clear covering at the front of the eye, enables light penetration. The eye's middle layer, the vascular tunic,...

The human tooth enables us to eat a variety of foods, speak clearly, and even aid in shaping our faces. Teeth are composed of various elements that work together. Here's a detailed look at the anatomy of a human tooth. The Crown, Neck, and Root The visible part of the tooth is referred to as the crown. It's covered by enamel, the hardest substance in the human body. The crown is uniquely shaped for each type of tooth, allowing for different functions such as cutting, tearing, or grinding food.

The human digestive system is an intricate and essential network for nutrient absorption and waste elimination. It encompasses the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and several accessory organs. Here's a detailed walkthrough of this complex system: Oral Cavity: The starting point of the digestive process. It comprises lips, cheeks, teeth, and salivary glands within mucous membranes. It extends to the soft palate, the floor of the mouth, and the tongue. Pharynx: It is a tubular...

The human heart is made up of three layers of tissue that are surrounded by the pericardium, a membrane that protects and confines the heart. The outermost layer, closest to the pericardium, is the epicardium. The pericardial cavity separates the pericardium from the epicardium. Beneath the epicardium is the myocardium, the middle layer, and the endocardium, the innermost layer. There are four chambers of the heart: the right atrium, the right ventricle, the left atrium, and the left ventricle.

One constraint of preclinical research in the field of bone repair is the lack of experimental control over the local mechanical environment within a healing bone lesion. We report the design and use of an external fixator for bone repair with the ability to change fixator stiffness in vivo.
