Fibroblast Growth Media

Fibroblast growth media are specialized cell-culture formulations designed to support the survival, proliferation, and maintenance of fibroblasts under laboratory conditions. They provide a balanced combination of nutrients, salts, energy sources, growth factors, and supplements that regulate cell attachment, metabolism, and division while helping preserve fibroblast characteristics. Researchers use these media to expand primary fibroblasts, establish experimental cultures, and study extracellular matrix production, wound healing, tissue remodeling, and cellular responses to drugs or biomaterials. Selecting and optimizing the formulation can influence cell growth rate, morphology, phenotype, and experimental reproducibility, making growth media an important foundation for connective-tissue and regenerative-biology research.

Carcinoma-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) rich in myofibroblasts present within the tumour stroma, play a major role in driving tumour progression. We developed a coimplantation tumour xengraft model for experimentally generating CAFs from human mammary fibroblasts. The protocol describes how to establish CAF myofibroblasts that acquire an ability to promote tumourigenesis.

Developmental Toxicity Assay Based on Real-Time Monitoring of Fibroblast Growth Factor Signal Disruption in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells

2025

In this study, we present an in vitro cell assay for identifying teratogenic chemicals. The dynamics of fibroblast growth factor (FGF)/serum response factor (SRF) signaling were measured in human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) reporter cells, and the risk of teratogenicity was evaluated by quantifying chemical disruption of this signaling pathway.

Rapid Culturing of Primary Murine Melanocytes and Fibroblasts: Isolating Melanocytes and Fibroblasts from Whole Murine Skin Sample
