Granulation Tissue Formation

Granulation tissue formation is a stage of wound healing in which new connective tissue and blood vessels develop within a healing injury, creating a vascular foundation for repair. After inflammation, fibroblasts migrate into the provisional extracellular matrix and produce collagen, while angiogenesis forms capillary networks that supply oxygen and nutrients; immune cells help clear debris and regulate these activities. The resulting tissue fills the wound, supports re-epithelialization, and gradually transitions toward scar formation as collagen is reorganized and blood vessels regress. Understanding this process is important in biology, tissue repair research, and the assessment of normal versus impaired wound healing.

Immunofluorescence Analysis of Stress Granule Formation After Bacterial Challenge of Mammalian Cells

Cited by 4 •

2017

We describe a method for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of stress granule formation in mammalian cells after the cells are challenged with bacteria and a number of different stresses. This protocol can be applied to investigate the cellular stress granule response in a wide range of host-bacterial interactions.

Stress Granule Formation During Shigella Infection of Cancerous Epithelial Cells

Source: Vonaesch, P. et. al., Immunofluorescence Analysis of Stress Granule Formation After Bacterial Challenge of Mammalian Cells. J. Vis. Exp. (2017)This video demonstrates the infection of epithelial cells with the pathogenic bacterium Shigella flexneri and the resulting host cellular response. Bacterial effector proteins disrupt host translation, triggering the formation of membrane-less organelles called stress granules, which reflect the cell's adaptive response to infection.

LC-MS/MS Analysis of the Proteomic Profile of Neuromelanin Granules Isolated from Human Brain Tissue

Source: Wulf, M., et.al. Laser Microdissection-Based Protocol for the LC-MS/MS Analysis of the Proteomic Profile of Neuromelanin Granules. J. Vis. Exp. (2021).This video demonstrates the analysis of peptide samples from neuromelanin granules (NMGs) isolated from human postmortem brain tissue. The peptides are first separated using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and then analyzed by mass spectrometry to determine their mass-to-charge ratios (m/z). Targeted peptides are fragmented...

Formation and Expansion of Neurospheres from a Hippocampal Tissue

This video demonstrates the process of neurosphere formation and their expansion from hippocampal tissue. Neural stem and progenitor cells from the postnatal mouse dentate gyrus tissue proliferate and form primary neurospheres, which are then reseeded to form secondary neurospheres.
