Il-8 Detection

IL-8 detection is the measurement of interleukin-8, also known as CXCL8, a chemokine that signals immune cells and serves as an indicator of inflammatory activity. In common immunoassays such as ELISA, antibodies selectively capture IL-8 from a biological sample, while a labeled detection system produces a signal proportional to its concentration; calibration against standards enables quantitative analysis. Measuring IL-8 helps researchers evaluate neutrophil recruitment, characterize inflammatory responses, and assess changes in cell culture or disease models. These data support studies of infection, immune regulation, tissue injury, and potential anti-inflammatory therapies.

The method described here allows for the visualization of IL-8 promoter-dependent inflammation activation in the lungs of mice through non-invasive bioluminescence imaging (BLI). The same animal can be subjected to BLI multiple times for up to two months from the time of delivery of the luciferase reporter construct.

External electric field induces a voltage on the membrane of a cell, termed the induced membrane voltage (ΔΦ). By using the potentiometric dye di-8-ANEPPS, it is possible to measure the ΔΦ noninvasively. This video shows the protocol for measuring ΔΦ using di-8-ANEPPS.

Robotic Duodenal Sleeve Resection for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor with Rare Exon 8 KIT Mutation Following Neoadjuvant Imatinib

This video case report demonstrates the unique management of a duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumor with a rare, understudied, exon 8 KIT mutation. Neoadjuvant therapy resulted in a 30% reduction in tumor size, making the patient a candidate for a robotic-assisted duodenal sleeve resection instead of the more morbid pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Detection of Bacteria Using Fluorogenic DNAzymes

We have recently reported a novel approach for generating fluorogenic DNAzyme probes that can be applied to set up a simple, "mix-and-read" fluorescent assay for bacterial detection. These special DNA probes catalyze the cleavage of a chromophore-modified DNA-RNA chimeric substrate in the presence of crude extracellular mixture (CEM) produced by a specific bacterium, thereby translating bacterial detection into fluorescence signal generation. In this report we will describe key experimental...
