Intestinal Kidney Cells

Intestinal kidney cells refers to intestinal epithelial and renal cell models used to study how these organs maintain selective barriers, transport substances, and respond to injury or treatment. In culture, cells form polarized layers with distinct apical and basolateral surfaces; tight junctions regulate paracellular passage, while membrane transporters and channels control uptake, secretion, and movement of ions, nutrients, and drugs. These models support research in epithelial physiology, absorption, renal clearance, drug toxicity, and gut–kidney interactions, including organ-on-chip systems that connect tissue compartments. Comparing responses across intestinal and kidney cells helps researchers predict pharmacological effects and investigate mechanisms underlying systemic disease.

DNabT cells are rare among peripheral T cells; however, they are abundant in certain non-lymphoid tissues. Difficulty of isolating DN T cells from non-lymphoid tissue hinders their functional analysis despite increasing recognized pathophysiologic significance. We describe a novel protocol for isolation of highly purified DN T cells from murine kidney.

Cell transplantation is an essential technique for studying tissue regeneration and for developing cell-based therapies of disease. We demonstrate here a microsurgical technique that permits the transplantation of genetically labeled cells directly into the kidney of adult zebrafish fish.

Extracting Intact Kidney from Mouse: A Technique to Obtain Kidney Without Renal Capsule from Murine Models

Techniques that are reliable and efficient for the isolation of kidney immune cells are needed for downstream applications. This requires surface antibody labeling of a small number of kidney immune cells. Herein, we describe a concise method for isolation of kidney immune cells that seemingly achieves this goal.
