Light Dark Cycle

Light Dark Cycle is a recurring pattern of illumination and darkness that organizes biological activity across a day and night. In organisms, light detected by photoreceptors can reset circadian clocks, while internal feedback loops involving clock genes and proteins generate approximately 24-hour rhythms in behavior, physiology, and metabolism. The cycle is used in biology to study sleep, hormone release, photosynthesis, locomotor activity, and seasonal responses; controlled lighting also supports animal care, plant growth, laboratory reproducibility, and research on circadian disruption and health.

Dark Triad and Person Perception

2025

Person perception is influenced by both external behaviors and the observer’s internal characteristics, including personality traits. Individuals with dark personality traits, comprising psychopathy, Machiavellianism, and narcissism — collectively known as the dark triad – exhibit manipulative and exploitative tendencies in social contexts. These traits affect how they perceive others and how they are perceived. The Role of Dark Personality Traits in Person PerceptionBlack et al. (2014) explored...
